Health & Wellness ResourcesNYSUT Member Benefits is proud to offer the availability of several health and wellness resources to NYSUT members free of charge.

You will find a brief synopsis of each of these services below along with hyperlinks within each section to learn more about a particular service.


Premium Calm Service
Member Benefits is pleased to offer the premium Calm subscription as a free benefit for all NYSUT in-service AND retiree members. The premium Calm subscription provides members with unlimited access to the full library of sleep, meditation, and relaxation content at calm.com and in the Calm app, which can be utilized via a desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile device (iOS or Android).

Members can add up to five dependents (age 16 or older) to receive their own premium Calm subscription.


NYSUT Associate Members and NYSUT Student Members are not eligible to utilize this free benefit at this time.

Peer Support Line
The Peer Support Line -- staffed by trained in-service and retired individuals who understand the unique professional and personal challenges of NYSUT members -- can provide answers, resources, and empathetic support when you need it.

This confidential helpline can assist with utilizing Employee Assistance Program (EAP) benefits, along with finding information and referrals for professional assistance within your community.

The Peer Support Line is a partnership between NYSUT Social Services, NYSUT Member Benefits, and Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.


BetterHelp (available through MB Discounts & Deals)
NYSUT members can receive 50% off their first month with a licensed BetterHelp therapist through our Member Benefits Discounts & Deals program.

BetterHelp is a mental health platform designed to make professional therapy accessible, affordable, and convenient -- so anyone who struggles with life's challenges can get help anytime and anywhere. These online counseling and therapy services are provided through web-based interaction along with phone and text communication.

Important: You will need your NYSUT ID number to create an account with your email address and password on the MB Discounts & Deals website to utilize this savings opportunity (type in "BetterHelp" in the "Search Deals" box on the MB Discounts & Deals site to find this offer).

Talkspace (Therapy & Mental Health Resources)
Effective January 22, 2024, the American Federation of Teachers (one of our national affiliates) has entered into a partnership with
Talkspace to offer discounted access to high-quality therapy and evidenced-based mental health resources.

Through this partnership, AFT members will have seamless and affordable access to online therapy -- along with an exclusive $100 discount on their first month of any Talkspace therapy subscription.

Talkspace will also provide AFT members with educational blog articles and resources they can apply to their daily work lives, including strategies for avoiding burnout as well as identifying and supporting mental health challenges among co-workers.

No-Cost Trauma Counseling
The AFT offers active AFT members up to three months of a trauma counseling benefit at no cost via video, phone, or text after a covered incident.

These AFT-paid trauma counseling sessions with highly-trained therapists are completely private and available to all active AFT members, including those on leave status.


Trauma counseling is a confidential, measurement-based program empowering recovery after everyday and workplace incidents.
